Juries see representation from top global brands, platforms and agencies, bringing an array of expertise to the judging of the Lions

For the first time global brands including Ford, Frito-Lay, Peloton, Riot Games, Kansas City Chiefs, Salesforce and WeTransfer sit on juries

28 April 2022 - Cannes Lions has announced its 2022 jury line-up of global experts, selected to define the global benchmark for creativity this June. Work from across the globe will be judged, awarded and celebrated during the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, running from 20-24 June 2022.

The 2022 line-up consists of 290 jury members from across the world, representing the global industry’s leading talent from a diverse range of disciplines. First time brands to join the juries include Ford, Frito-Lay, Peloton, Riot Games, Kansas City Chiefs, Salesforce and WeTransfer, with representation from other top global brands including AB InBev, Adobe, Apple, Disney, Doconomy, GSK, Mars Wrigley, Mastercard, Pepsico, Red Bull, The New York Times and Unilever.

Simon Cook, CEO, LIONS, comments: “We are delighted to welcome such an immensely talented set of jurors to benchmark creative excellence at Cannes Lions this year. Our juries play a pivotal role in recognising the world’s best creative marketing and championing the work that will pave the way forward for the global industry. We’re extremely proud to be able to bring together a diverse group of individuals to reflect the evolving industry landscape and we thank them for their time and dedication.”

This year, Lions juries will return to Cannes to complete their judging at the Festival. Speaking about the judging process, Susie Walker, VP Awards & Insight, LIONS, says “To resume in-person judging this year, truly amplifies the judging experience for each jury member. 2022 is set to be a hugely exciting festival, with the introduction of a new award, the Creative B2B Lions, as well as a refreshed take on the Creative Commerce Lions and the Media Lions. Cannes Lions Announces the 2022 See It Be It Finalists

Cannes Lions Announces the 2022 See It Be It Finalists

The six female finalists join the 2020/21 cohort to take part in a bespoke accelerator programme during the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June

Cannes Lions has today announced the 2022 See It Be It finalists. Six female industry talents, from across the world, have been selected to take part in a unique development experience at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, taking place from 20-24 June 2022.

See It Be It aims to support creative female talent from across the global industry and accelerate them into senior creative roles. Six finalists will join the 2020/2021 See It Be It cohort of 15 women in Cannes. They each receive an all-access Festival pass, travel to and from Cannes, and accommodation, courtesy of the Festival, and will attend an exclusive programme of events, workshops and mentoring with some of the most respected leaders in the industry today. To date, over 100 women have taken part in See It Be It, and many alumni have progressed into leadership positions, won Lions awards and become Cannes Lions jurors.

See It Be It Ambassador, Swati Bhattacharya, Chief Creative Officer, FCB India, will guide the group through the programme alongside See It Be It Chair, Madonna Badger, CCO and Founder of Badger & Winters.

This year’s programme theme is ‘I am enough’. Swati Bhattacharya commented: “Women navigate life among permanent contradictions. Women think they will only be seen as doers when they over do. We get lost in trying to arrive. In order to take our rightful place sooner rather than later, we need to accept that we are enough exactly the way we are. Enough to lead, enough to experiment, enough to thrive and enough to be.”

The six 2022 finalists are named as follows:

Anastasia Simone, Hong Kong, Leo Burnett, Senior Art Director
Sabine Stromsky, UK, Edelman UK, Senior Creative Art Director
Soleil Badenhop, Philippines, GIGIL, Associate Creative Director
Stephanie Cajucom, USA, McCann Worldgroup, VP Creative Director
Sumita Maharaj, Australia, Re Agency, Design Director
Teresa Verde Pinho, Brazil, AKQA São Paulo, Creative

The 15 women already selected to take part in See It Be It 2020/2021, who will join the six newly selected creatives for the 2022 cohort in Cannes, are as follows:

Allie Steel, Australia, DDB, Senior Writer
Andrea Auz, Ecuador, Paper, Creative Director
Denise Tee, Philippines, Creative Consultant
Ellen Fromm, Netherlands, AKQA Amsterdam, Senior Copywriter
Geetanjali Jaiswal, India, McCann, Senior Creative Director
Javiera Wuth, Chile, Pedro Juan y Diego, Senior Copywriter
Karo Gómez, Mexico, Media.Monks, Social Media Strategist
Lauren Ferreira, USA, TBWA\Media Arts Lab, Creative Director for Apple
Letícia Rodrigues, Brazil, FCB Brazil, Associate Creative Director
Mica Gallino, USA/Mexico, Nike, Brand Creative Director
Nedal Ahmed, Japan, Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo, Senior Writer
Rachel Chew, Singapore, Ogilvy, Associate Creative Director
Rosa Guerrero, Dominican Republic, MoM Marketing of Minds, Creative Leader
Roxana Nita, Romania, DDB Romania, Creative Director
Tescia Deák, USA, TBWA\Chiat\Day, Creative Director

Susie Walker, VP Awards & Insights, LIONS, said: “See It Be It is a vital initiative in Cannes Lions’ response to the gender imbalance that exists within the global creative community. We’re delighted to welcome this hugely-talented cohort of 21 women to both the Festival and the SIBI network, which has become a global movement of women providing learning and support to their peers right across the world, ensuring the impact of the programme reaches far beyond the Festival week.”

See It Be It is open to women, trans-identifying and non-binary people and further details about the programme can be found here

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity takes place from 20-24 June 2022, in Cannes, France and passes can be purchased here

THE U.S. HISPANIC YOUNG LIONS COMPETITIONS 2022 ANNOUNCES JURY MEMBERS

The  2022 U.S. Hispanic Young Lions Competitions started on Thursday, February 17, 2022.

The Meta team briefed the creatives teams, who partnered with Círculo Creativo USA, offering their support by sponsoring again this year’s competition in the search for the teams that will represent the US Hispanic Market at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

On Monday, Círculo Creativo USA will share the creative with the jury, and the search for the best team will be on its way. Whom will the jury be for this edition?

We have six unique and very talented, award-winning, renowned jurors.

  • Benny Thomas, Global Planning Lead - Creative & Experiential at Meta

  • Raúl Méndez Benavent, Global Creative Lead at Meta

  • Paola Aldaz Biere, Co-Chief Executive Officer & President at DDB Colombia Group

  • Rodrigo Figueroa Reyes, Founder & CEO at FiReSPORTS

  • José Beker, Co Founder at BeSo by LLYC

  • John Santiago, Chief Client Officer at Dentsu Creative / Founder, CEO at M8

“It is a great honor to count with this jury. Choosing the teams representing us as an industry at Cannes is not an easy task. It is a big responsibility. USH Market has won three times since participating in this important creative contest, and we hope to have many more wins.  That’s why we have chosen six outstanding professionals, people who have seen it all.  It won’t be an easy job to amuse them, yet, I am certain that for this new generation of talented young creatives, it won’t be impossible
,” says Flor Leibaschoff, President of Círculo Creativo USA.

“Investing on the next generation of Latino Creative talent, especially given the increased attention to DE&I, is part of the Círculo Creativo promise and commitment. If we think about it diversity made music, arts, cuisine and science more creative. It is our mission to do the same on the marketing and advertising field, with a special focus on Latino talent and their creative output. We thank Meta for their support and partnership and we look forward to great representation at the Cannes Lions 2022” says Luis Miguel Messianu, Chairman of Círculo Creativo USA.

These results led him to take over as president and CCO of DDB Argentina in February 2000.

He was a juror at Cannes Lions four times: Film (1999), Titanium & Integrated (2007), Branded Content (2012) and Entertainmeny (2021).

Among the awards won are Gold, Silver and Bronze Lions at Cannes, Clio awards, One Show Entertainment, London & New York Festival, the Grand Prix of the Circulo de Creativos Argentinos, the FIAP Media Innovation Grand Prix, the Grand Content Prix in El Ojo de Iberoamérica and more than 200 short lists around the world.

His theory is that traditional advertising ceased to be a mere communication experience to become a powerful entertainment weapon. That prompted him to create his own company: FiRe Advertainment, the pioneering agency in the creation of Branded Content, which in 2018 joined with Foote Cone & Belding to become FCB&FiRe.

In 2020 it launches FiReSPORTS, the first esports organization to emerge from an agency, which has the largest Counter Strike League in Spain and Latam, a 600 m2 Gaming Center in Buenos Aires, a digital media called Infobae Latin Power with 1M monthly viewers, a women's team from Valorant in Mexico, the most important gamer transfer company in Latin America based in Madrid and LOS CRACK, the major esports industry award.

Perhaps that is why Rodrigo was chosen a few years ago by Advertising Age Magazine as one of the "10 Global Players", who, when explaining this distinction, highlight that he is "one of the 10 people in the communication to consider in the world”.

José Beker

Pepe began his career in 1990 in Mexico at the advertising agency Alazraki y Asociados.

Over the years as Creative Director he won the Grand Prize for Radio at the FIAP Festival and at the New York Festival, he won the first gold in the history of Mexico in an international award festival.

In 1993 he continued his career at FCB, where in a few years he transformed the agency into one of the most creative in Mexico and the most awarded transnational agency.

In 1996 Pepe joined Gilbert DDB.

In 1997 he was invited to start the operation of Publicis in Mexico.

In 2000 he started as a partner of EURO RSCG Beker, becoming its CEO.

Throughout his career, he has managed brands such as: Wal-Mart, Procter & Gamble Levi's, Nestlé, L'Oreal, Kimberly Clark, among others.

In I998 he was the president of the "Círculo Creativo" in Mexico and a jury at Cannes, FIAP, Clio, the New York Festival and the London Festival, among others.

He is currently Co-founder of BESO, which in just 10 years is one of the largest multiplatform agencies in Mexico with more than 200 collaborators and clients such as: SKY, Liverpool, Honda, Lala, Suburbia, Microsoft, Banorte, Tecnológico de Monterrey, Genomma Lab, Mattel, Kellogg's, Televisa, Mercedes Benz, among others.

On September 20, 2021 BESO partners with the largest consulting firm in Latin America, LLYC (Llorente & Cuenca) to become BESO by LLYC, forming one of the largest communication groups in Mexico and the region.

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, will return to Cannes, France in June 2022

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, will return to Cannes, France in June 2022

Reinvention, sustainability and digital access are key in the planning of the hybrid Festival

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has confirmed that it will return to  Cannes, France, from 20-24 June 2022.

Philip Thomas, Chairman, LIONS, said, “We can’t wait to reunite the industry and bring the community together once again. For over 67 years, Cannes Lions has served as a convening force for the global creative community. As the world continues to shift and change we know that our role as conveners needs to evolve. Building Cannes Lions as a hybrid Festival will allow us to continue to reach our expanded creative community who we have welcomed through our digital initiatives over the last 18 months. It provides us with an opportunity to democratise, innovate and reinvent the Festival for the future.”

Plans for the Festival, which will build on LIONS Membership, the subscription-based, digital offering launched in March 2020 and which now has more than 10,000 members, are being developed to offer the global community even more flexibility and easier access to the home of creativity.

Simon Cook, Managing Director, LIONS, said, “We are putting the foundations in place to build a purposeful Festival that allows our community to come together in a meaningful way. Through highly curated content, community networking opportunities and agenda setting initiatives Cannes Lions will provide an annual forum for the global industry to address the most pressing issues the industry and world are facing today. In doing this, sustainability is top of mind for us - as it is for the industry - and we’ve committed to putting a sustainability agenda in place. Together with a number of partners, we are striving to deliver our most sustainable Festival in history.

Last week, LIONS opened its annual State of Creativity Study. Designed to uncover the industry's attitudes and approaches towards creativity, and paint an accurate picture of what will impact the creative economy tomorrow. The results of the study will form the LIONS 2022 editorial agenda across all of its platforms and events. Cannes Lions will open its call for content in January.

Speaking about the 2022 Cannes Lions juries, Susie Walker, VP, Awards & Insight, said, “Returning the Festival to Cannes means that we can once again bring our jurors together in person. Our unique judging technology allows us to carry out the initial judging stages remotely but we’re delighted to be bringing the jurors back to Cannes to complete the final stages and award the Lions - as they have done since 1954. We can’t wait to hear the discussions and insights as our juries deep-dive into the work and set the global benchmark in creative excellence.”

Over the last 18 months, Cannes Lions, together with owners Ascential, has developed a health and safety standard that delivers industry best practice at live events. The Festival will adhere to the latest health guidelines leading up to and at the event. Cannes Lions will open for entries and registrations on 20 January 2022.
